Like
so many things in life,
everything began with a “Once upon a time...”
It was in 1989 when, with the help of an interior designer, my life companion
Hans Fretz and I started converting the gloomy Schiller-Espresso into
a smart, but still quite boring looking Café.
Following the style of the taste of those times it was
decorated with mirrors, metal signs, paintings and all sorts of rubbish
– it looked nice, but unfortunately it was far from being something
exceptional.
One day, as luck would have it, I used my female powers of persuasion
to ask Hans – who you already got to know, I daresay – to
eventually sort his amazing collection of pictures of soccer players and
sportsmen, old posters of boxing matches, world champion belts and autographs.
And well, as everyone knows, men don’t like tidying up and instead
they suddenly start thinking. That’s when Hans got the idea to present
parts of his collection in the Café.
And like this, by my little “boxing punch” the foundations
of the Sport-Café were laid.
We ordered acrylic chests for the world champion belts, for the sport
implements and the boxing equipment. The guests’ feedback was great
and with huge interest and astonishment everyone watched the sport collection
grow.
In course of time boxing and soccer stars started bringing their medals,
soccer shoes, tricots or the like and helped creating the Schiller-Café’s
unique ambiance, of which I am... well, let’s say quite proud.
Especially for I am successfully pushing through my “baby”
for over 15 years now – thanks to the guests.
So just come around and see us!
Yours, Andrea Langwieder
